Chapter 6 - The Day My Mother Lost Control of the Story

Vivian's biggest mistake came twelve days after the hidden-camera incident.
She filed a written statement claiming Emma had endangered Oliver.
According to Vivian, Emma had thrown a medicine bottle, smashed a glass, and attempted to take the baby while “confused and physically unstable.”
Daniel read the statement twice.
Then he smiled.
Not because it was funny.
Because Vivian had committed herself to a version of events that could be disproved frame by frame.
The recording showed everything.
Vivian knocking the bottle down.
Vivian crushing the pills.
Vivian scattering the pieces.
Vivian refusing Emma access to Oliver.
Vivian demanding that a recovering woman crawl across a floor covered with broken glass.
And most importantly, the camera's timestamp established exactly when everything happened.
Vivian had lied in writing.
Now the truth was no longer a family disagreement.

It was evidence.
